The International Servant Leadership Program (ISLP) continues with 14 students from Kazakhstan and Ukraine. These students are now in the 2nd phase of this program, as they research servant leadership in their own communities with the assistance of mentor-advisors appointed by the MCF. This summer, these students will attend the International Servant Leadership Academy, which will be held from July 14-30 in and around Portland, Oregon. At the Academy, these students will join with American students to experience communities of servant leadership in business, non-profits and government.

April, 2008 - In partnership with The Center for Sharing (Pasco, Washington), MCF Vice-President, Daniel Ballast, and MCF Board Member, Robert Christensen, will travel to Mindoro, Philippines to hold a 1-month course on servant leadership for 24 church leaders in the region. This is the MCF's first effort to provide servant leadership training specifically for church leaders.

April, 2008 - MCF President, Marshall Christensen, will travel to Kiev Ukraine to teach courses at Kiev National Linguistic University and to work with students in the International Servant Leadership Program.

March, 2008 - As part of the MCF's "Visiting International Professor" program, four teachers from Kiev National Linguistic University visited Concordia University (Portland, Oregon) and George Fox University (Portland, Oregon) for one month to learn more about American teaching methods and language programs. During the program, these teachers had the opportunity to learn extensively from their peers about the latest teaching methods and educational technologies. They also enjoyed the opportunity to develop new friendships with colleagues at these universities and with their American host families. One of these teachers recently commented, "This program must continue for other teachers from our university. It is extremely beneficial and useful."

February, 2008 - MCF Vice President, Dan Ballast, spent one month at the Kazakh-American Free University (Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan), where he taught Economics seminars and worked with the students enrolled in the MCF's International Servant Leadership Program.

January, 2008 - As part of the MCF's "Visiting International Professor" program, Ms. Galina Konopyanova, the dean of the business school from the Kazakh-American Free University, arrived for a one-month program at George Fox University (Portland, Oregon). Ms. Konopyanova is learning more about American higher education and business programs as she dialogues with her peers, visits classes and participates in administrative meetings. She recently commented, "This visit is making a tremendous impression on me. Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly."

December, 2007 - Delegates from the MCF attended the 2007 Summit for Servant Leaders in Hood River, Oregon. Those attending the summit discussed how to more effectively collaborate and involve businesses, universities, churches and non-profits in efforts to develop servant leaders around the world.

October, 2007 - Foundation members travel to Kiev to launch first International Servant Leadership Program in Ukraine. Ten students from Kiev National Linguistic University (KNLU) were selected from among thousands of students to participate in the Foundation's first International Servant Leadership Program offered in Ukraine. Prof. Charles Ferguson, Dr. Marshall Christensen, and Dr. Daniel Ballast taught the on-site training on servant leadership for these students, which is the first stage of the 2-year program. During their visit, a special seminar on servant leadership was also held for fifteen of the university's faculty members.

October, 2007 - Administration of Kiev National Linguistic University (KNLU) applauds Foundation's servant leadership programs. During a meeting between Foundation members and KNLU Vice-Rector, Miroslav Solovey, Dr. Solovey applauded the Foundation's training on servant leadership which was held for students and teachers at KNLU. Dr. Solovey requested broader training on servant leadership for the university in the future. The Foundation intends to respond to this request by offering expanded servant leadership training for students, teachers and administrators at KNLU in 2008.

October, 2007 - Four faculty members from Kiev National Linguistic University (KNLU) identified for internship in Portland, Oregon. During their recent visit to Ukraine, Foundation members worked with KNLU to select four faculty members for a 1-month teaching internship organized by the Foundation in Portland, Oregon. The Foundation is pleased that four outstanding faculty members were selected for this program, and that they will be coming to Oregon in March, 2008. The Foundation is very grateful for the partnership of Concordia University and George Fox University, who will be hosting these teacher-interns.

September, 2007 - International Servant Leadership Program launched for a new group of students in Kazakhstan. Ten students from the Kazakh-American Free University enrolled in the 2007 International Servant Leadership Program or "ISLP." These students participated in on-site training on servant leadership, which is the first stage of the 2-year program. Dr. Marshall Christensen and Dr. Daniel Ballast led the training.
