2010 Servant Leadership Academy Info

The 2010 Servant Leadership Academy will be held from July 12 - July 29, 2010 in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Students from Kazakhstan and Ukraine should should currently be working on the following:

RESERVE YOUR TICKETS

1. You should reserve your tickets by March, 2010 to get the cheapest rates. For cheaper flights, consider routes through Moscow or Turkey.  KLM and Lufthansa have direct flights from Europe to Portland, however these flights may be more expensive.  You can go to www.expedia.com to check on available flights and their approximate costs.  You can then take this information with you to a local travel agent to order your tickets.  Note: Do NOT pay for your tickets until you have received your US visas.

2. You should plan to arrive in Portland, Oregon (airport code: PDX) on July 12 and depart Portland, Oregon on July 29. If necessary (and only if necessary for a cheaper flight), you can arrive one day earlier on July 11 and/or depart one day later on July 30.

3. Please try to travel together with other students, if possible.

APPLY FOR YOUR U.S. VISAS

1. Go to the appropriate U.S. Embassy web-site to read about the entire visa application process.  You will be applying for non-immigrant B-1 visas.  Read through these sites carefully, and make sure you meet all of the requirements.

Students from Kazakhstan should visit the site found at:

2. You should schedule a visa interview between April 15, 2010 and June 15, 2010 with the U.S. embassy in your country.  Schedule your visa interview according to the guidelines of the embassy.

3. In general, you will need the following documents to apply for your visas:
a) your original passport,
b) a DS-156 application form filled out on-line and printed with a bar-code,
c) a passport photo that strictly meets the embassy standards,
d) a original invitation from the Marshall Christensen Foundation,
e) a DS-157 form (for males only),
f) a document from your university showing you are a student,
g) other documents showing that you have ties to your country.

5. Note: Kazakhstan students will have their MCF invitations delivered by Dan Ballast in February.  Ukrainian students will have their MCF invitations delivered by Valentyna Iakuba by the end of March.
